Lexus LFA Overview
The new ultra-exclusive supercar from Lexus, the LFA, is a thoroughbred with a race track parentage and inspiration taken from Formula 1.
Made of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) construction to keep its weight at a minimum as well as enabling designers to shape and mould the body in a way which would have been impossible with metal, the LFA delivers race-car performance from its mid-front mounted 4.8-litre V10 engine.
Achieving a top speed in excess of 200mph (202 mph), a nought to 62mph acceleration in 3.7 seconds, maximum power of 552bhp and maximum torque of 480Nm, the LFA delivers 9,000rpm red line. All of this is accompanied by specially developed acoustics for both inside the cabin and out which is inspired by the sound of a Formula 1 engine at full revs. Specially tuned to deliver an awesome “soundtrack” that expresses the car’s extreme performance, the so-called “Octave Harmony” is unlike that of any other road car.
Everything about the LFA has been designed to reflect its incredible performance, from Carbon Ceramic Material (CCM) brakes to seats, upholstered in fine leather and Alcantara, provide the high level of back and side support.
Only 500 examples will be made with just a handful destined for the UK with a price tag in the region of £366,000.
